Updates on the Nursery

This is what we have picked out for boy. We would make the bumper pad out of this fabric and use other coordinating solids, such as corduroy, maybe burlap and other textures. LOVE it!
This is what we have picked out for a girl. My mom actually purchased this fabric a few years ago(not with baby in mind) but after I got pregnant she reminded me that she had it. I am OBSESSED with it. We will probably make the bumper pad out of it then use coordinating velvets and chenilles. Too adorable!!(The background color is chocolate brown)

That being said... we find out in 2 days if we will be having a boy or girl! Yay! I can't wait:)

It's here!!! I waited all day long for fed ex to drop it off. I had to put off many errands in fear of the fedex truck pulling up the minute I leave...because that's my luck. It was also my luck that it did not get here until 4:45, but nevertheless, it's here! And Jeff dropped everything right when he walked in the door to put it together. I love that guy. The changing table is cherry wood along with all the other furniture that we have picked out. That being said, mom also called today to tell me they ordered my dream rocker:)!!!!!! and it will be here in 4 weeks, YAY!! We also ordered our crib last week so it will be here in about 6 weeks. I could not be more excited!
( I still can not figure out what order to upload these pictures, I obviously wanted the one where Jeff is putting it together, before the finished product)

Haircut

I need advice!!! I have patiently been growing my hair out since I found out I was pregnant. It is actually growing really fast but I easily get sick of it. Should I cut it!? I have heard horror stories of moms cutting their hair and the bigger they get, the smaller their head looks...AHHH! That's all i need. I would welcome any suggestions.

First Big Purchase for baby

We bought the crib today!!! Yay! I am so excited about it! We found it at Room To Dream. I never thought I would buy the crib there( not because I don't LOVE everything in there) but because there cribs are rather pricey. BUT we found the one we like and it just so happens that they are discontinuing the model and are having a close out sale on it. YIPEE! It will be here in 6-8 weeks. I am so sad that I didn't take a picture of it. I guess I was too excited. It is a solid cherry wood bed that transitions to a toddler then a full size bed. Less than a week until we find out:)

A Great Day!

Mom and dad came to town yesterday evening and stayed the night( which was awesome especially since jeff is out of town) and then stayed for the day. Dad had a seminar in town so mom came to hang out with me. We had such a fun girls day! We got to sleep in for a bit, then treated ourselves to McAlisters. After that we headed to several cute baby boutiques in Edmond. I took her to Marcy and Abbey's, Lil Dudes and Divas and Ladybugs and Lizards. After we made those stops we went to Pickles and Icecream. I want to show her the rocker that we had been eye-ing. SO of course, I ended up buying a super cute maternity/nursing dress. (That's what the envelope money if for, right Jeff?) After all the stops were made in Edmond we headed over to May Ave. and spent an ample amount of time at Room(s) to Dream. Here we found great ideas for crib bedding( gender allowing) and I found the crib I want. I am waiting until Monday so Jeff can check it out and we can buy it together. Our next stop was USA Baby, which was pretty cute as well. I found several changing tables there and not to mention...my dream rocker. It is absolutely fabulous. It actually is an over sized recliner made out of wonderful chocolate tapestry and here is the best part...its electric. oh yes, you heard me right. It has a remote(that lights up for midnight feedings) that gently reclines the chair. It is a chair made for a queen. OK so next we head to Storkland. TONS of baby stores, SOO fun. The best part is that mom and I, neither one, spent a dime on the baby. We couldn't. Not for 8 more days. I am sure March 1st we will both be out scravenging for any pink or blue:) Ok so our day is not over. Now we need to head to some fabric stores, but first I need some waffle fries from Chick Fil A. This is my new found craving and it is terrible. I would love to tell you that all I have been craving is fresh fruit and vegggies but that would be a lie, so I won't. One trip through the drive thru and we are on our way to Hancock Fabrics. By the way, the plan is this... if it is a girl, mom is going to help, well actually I will be helping her custom make the bedding out of this tapestry fabric that is to die for. If it is a boy, Pottery Barn here I come) So IF it is a girl we will know what additional fabric we will need, so forth. Hancock was a no go so we head to Hobby Lobby and nothing really there either. Her next trip up, we will know whether or not if we will even needing to buy fabric, and if so we can go some more custom fabric stores. Our day would not be complete with a TJ MAXX stop so we head there while dad travels across town to meet us at Johnnies. We had a great dinner. The only part that would have made it better is if jeff could have been there too. Alas, our day had to come to an end, but I deem it to be a successful day none the less. Parents are the best:)
When I got home I ran myself a hot bath and relaxed while I finished reading, " The Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy". I probably could have picked a more relaxing read. One that didn't talk about being "effaced", after birth, and postpartum dementia... but it was exciting to read about bringing baby home. I can't wait for that part.

Alone

Last night Jeff had an away basketball game in Norman, so I went and filmed, like usual. After the game I was excited bc Jeff needed me to take him back to Edmond instead of him riding the bus back because he was meeting the football coaches up at the high school to head to Dallas for a coaching clinic. Jeff will be gone until Sunday night and I am going to honest and tell you that i HATE staying home alone. I don't mind it at all during the day but when the sun goes down, I start getting really paranoid. After I dropped Jeff off, I thought I would swing by T J MAXX to prolong going home. I stayed til they closed then decided I was being ridiculous so I headed home. It helps that teh dogs are there with me...until they decide that bedtime in 10:30 and they head into the bedroom. I was not tired at all so I kept myself occupied by making this fabulous avacado salsa recipe from my cousin Shannon. After I cleaned up, I settled in on the couch with my plate of salsa a bag of chips and a book on pregnancy that I had checked out from the public library( that's right, I got a library card today). Everything was going well, I had the tv on to kill the silence, food and a book telling me all how normal my out of body experience is. Then it hit me...the dreaded heatburn that I experience every night.BLAH! So I put away the salsa bc even the smell of it is making my throat swell. After I get a call from Jeff, letting me know that he has safely arrived in Dallas, I glance at the time...2 A.M.!!!!!!!!! Sure enough, I had already read half of the book! Time for bed. This is where it gets hard. The house is quiet, dogs are asleep, lights are off...it is just scary to me. I am so overly paranoid, it is ridiculous, and it probably doesn't help that Jeff and I watched "Saw" a few nights ago. Anyway, I tuck myself in bed and hold on to my newly purchased body pillow until I fall asleep. What a night!

Cozy

The room is actually not square. The wall to the left is straight but the wall to the right has a little cubby in it where we are thinking of putting the rocker.
This is what I would call a very cozy soon-to-be-nursery. We picked this room out because it is very close to our room and I thought it would be a good size. I think it is suppose to be an office although it has only been used as a college guy's room and my christmas storage room ( at different times of course). Yesterday we spend our Saturday moving furniture around the house and since we decided to make the nursery the small room without a closet, we moved an armoire in there to serve the purpose. Until yesterday I thought the room we had decided on was perfect, until the one piece of furniture was moved in...so today I mapped out where all the furniture would go with packing tape to make sure we made the right choice before we put all the furniture together in there. Here is what it looks like( I actually measured out dimensions so the markings are realistic) Is it too small????

Anticipation

Monday I was officially 15 weeks pregnant. I can not believe this pregnancy is going by so fast and I know that once this little bundle is born it will go by even faster. Here is my wish...that I could be 18 pregnant already!!!! I just want to know what you are little one! I know I should not wish away this precious time but my patience is getting the best of me! SOO much depends on it you are a boy or a girl. Although we( mommy and daddy) say we do not care what gender you are as long as you are healthy, subconsciously I KIND OF hope you are a sweet baby girl. And although Jeff says out loud he wants a boy first...I know he KIND OF hopes you are a sweet baby girl too. Now don't get me wrong, we will love this bundle to pieces, no matter the gender. And another thing... if we do have a boy, please do not EVER tell him that we wished he was a girl:)
That being said, I had my monthly appointment last week. I have been waiting for this appointment for months and here is why...I got to schedule my second and last ultrasound of this pregnancy. This is the ultrasound where they determine the gender, and if you know me at all, planner extraordinaire, I NEED TO KNOW!!! So all along, my doctor has told me, "You get an ultrasound at 7 weeks to hear the heart beat and at 18 weeks to determine gender". So during my appointment I asked if I could request the earliest possible date to have my ultrasound. Of course, she was happy to do that, wrote me a slip to take to the ultrasound office and wrote "MARCH 1ST" big at the top and signed her name.
As Jeff and I walk merrily on our way to schedule this much anticipated appointment, I am all smiles and all is good in the life of Alissa Lovett...until I approach the desk. I laid my appointment slip down proudly as if I had worked hard for it and the receptionist asks how far along I will be on March 1st. I tell her 18 weeks and she looks at me as if I were asking to have an ultrasound before I was even pregnant. "Ma'am our office policy is that you have to be 19 weeks for the complete ultrasound."
I just stood there...I have been counting down for MONTHS and she tells me I have to wait another 7 days...not on my watch.
I try to remain calm and tell her that my doctor has told me many times that I could have this ultrasound at 18 weeks. After a lengthly conversation, her going back to ask permission, and me pouring out all my pregnancy hormones right there at the front desk, I walked away with an appointment on March 1st:)
Now some of you might think I am too impatient or stubborn but let me tell you something...if someone tells me 18 weeks, by golly it will happen at 18 weeks. Under normal, not pregnant circumstances I would have let the office secretary walk all over me and I would have nodded yes like a little school girl. But not this time.
So let the countdown...continue:)
18 DAYS!!!
